Rowan and the Tide Clock
Chapter 1: When the Tides Forgot
Rowan lived in Coral Harbor, where shell boats floated through blue streets and sea gardens opened with the tide. One morning the tide did not come. The anemone lamps stayed closed, the delivery turtles bumped into sleepy gates, and the great Tide Clock in the plaza clicked only halfway. Rowan found a pearl gear wedged under the clock and thought about fixing it alone. But every lever was taller than he was, and the harbor needed more than one clever pair of hands.
Chapter 2: A Job for Every Fin
Rowan gathered everyone: Mira the turtle could lift heavy doors, Pip the shrimp could reach tiny hinges, and Aunt Nari knew the old tide songs. At first they all talked at once, and the clock clicked in unhappy circles. Rowan drew three simple marks in the sand: lift, clean, sing. Each helper took one task. Mira raised the clock face, Pip brushed salt from the pearl gear, and Nari sang the rhythm that told the sea when to breathe. Rowan held the lantern steady so each friend could see.
Chapter 3: The Harbor Breathes Again
With one final turn, the pearl gear slipped into place. The Tide Clock opened like a flower, and a gentle current rolled through Coral Harbor. Lamps bloomed, shell boats lifted, and the sea gardens waved awake. Rowan realized that he had not fixed the clock by being the smartest person in the plaza. He had helped everyone fit their gifts together. From then on, when a problem looked too large, Coral Harbor did not ask who could solve it alone. They asked what each friend could bring.
