Lab note, checked 15 September 2026. This is a timed adult sleep script, not a fairy tale. Read it in a dark room at 12โ€“14 minutes of spoken pace per section, or play it under the FoxyTales night player with rain. Ember sits by the window. Yuki keeps the timetable. There is no twist, no villain, and no child protagonist.

How to take this journey

Lights already down. Phone face-down. If you use the FoxyTales sticky player, set 60 minutes and rain. You are not trying to finish the story. You are trying to lose the plot on purpose. If you fall asleep in section two, that is a successful run.

The train is the Hokutosei of memory, not a 2026 booking. Snow at the glass. A thermos. Ember names the stations like a lullaby. Yuki only speaks to say the next station is further than you think, which is the point.

Boarding, Sapporo night

You are already in the seat. That is the first kindness: no packing, no ticket machine, no run down a platform. The carriage is one-third full. A paper lamp over the aisle. Ember is in the window seat, coat still on, as if the cold on the glass is a friend. She says the name of the city once, then lets it go.

Yuki walks the corridor with a folded timetable that she never fully opens. She taps the back of your seat the way a conductor would, except there is no inspection. The tap means: you can put the day down. The train does not need you to watch the doors.

Ishikari plain, snow against the pane

Fields at night are not empty. They hold the shape of rows you cannot see. Snow grains tick the glass in irregular time, which is better than a metronome. Ember counts nothing. She describes the thermos lid, the way steam fogs a coin of window, the way your shoulders drop one inch when the car leans into a slow curve.

If thoughts arrive โ€” mail, a name, a bill โ€” let them stand in the aisle and miss their stop. Yuki will not collect them. The rumble under the floor is a low frequency you can lend your jaw to. Unclench. The next station is announced only as ‘further’.

Tunnels, then the coast you cannot see

A tunnel is a held breath that the mountain takes for you. Lights in the car warm by a few degrees. Ember’s voice thins. She lists objects without story: a wool cuff, a paper ticket punched twice, a window latch that will not be needed until morning. Morning is not scheduled on this timetable.

When the tunnel ends, the snow is bluer. You do not have to look. The glass is cold enough to tell the truth without a view. Yuki sits for a while in the opposite row and says the word ‘asleep’ as if it were a station that always comes, even when you stop watching the map.

Asahikawa and after, which you will not remember

There is no arrival. The script thins to names of snow and metal and breath. Ember stops making sentences. Yuki’s timetable is a blank page. The player can keep rain under the last minute until the 60-minute timer ends. If you are still awake, do not rewind for plot. Start the rain loop and put the phone outside the bed.

This journey has no moral and no child at the window. It is an adult body on a night train that does not need a destination. Ember and Yuki stay on the car. You do not have to thank them.

Pros

  • Paced for a 60-minute timer, not a chapter cliffhanger.
  • Cameos stay quiet; no comic relief that wakes you.
  • Works under rain on the sticky player.

Cons

  • It will bore anyone who wants a plot. That is intended.
  • No audio file is bundled in this HTML; use the site player or your own voice.
  • Station names are a sleep device, not a travel guide.

FAQ

Can I play this for a child?

No. This library is adult sleep. Use another product for kids.

Do I need headphones?

Not required. Keep volume below conversation.

What if I finish it awake?

Do not restart. Switch to the 8-hour cabin loop.

Set the timer to 60. If you remember the last station, you went too fast.
